ab[landmass]
ab[landmass] emerged out of a desire to represent change over time. I indicate this change with very simple typographic elements, the letters ‘a’ and ‘b’ as well as the deepening chasm of enlarging holes in the book, the absence of the page. The slow trajectory of these holes and text is interrupted by a red spread, a linoleum cut printed on graph paper. I imagined this spread as a ‘present,’ the current moment in time. It is the only spread that disallows the possibility to see layers of previous or upcoming pages; only the immediate position of the holes is indicated by an inescapable red. Laser printed, letterpress printed, and hand-cut on machine made paper. 8 x 41/2.” Printed in an edition of 10 in 2009.
